Angus Wai
Founder, CEO, CIO

Angus Wai launched Polymer Capital Management in partnership with investment firm PAG in January 2019. Mr. Wai has more than 15 years of experience overseeing asset management businesses in Asian markets. He was a founding member of the Asia team and Head of Asia-Pacific at SAC/Point72, where he oversaw the build-out of its Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan offices. Prior to launching Polymer, Mr. Wai founded the Asia business at Folger Hill Asset Management and served as its Asia-Pacific CEO. He previously held roles as part of the investment advisory group of Sumitomo Trust Finance, and as a public auditor at KPMG in Hong Kong and Canada. Mr. Wai graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada with a Bachelor's and Masters of Accountancy.

Anthony Cheung
Head of ESG

Mr. Cheung joined Polymer Capital Management in April 2021 as Managing Director of ESG and is primarily responsible for designing and implementing sustainability policies and tools. Prior to joining the firm, he held various asset management roles in London, Singapore and Hong Kong, including Gartmore, Pictet and BNP Paribas. Mr. Cheung has attained the Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA®) designation. With his deep ESG expertise, coupled with his experience serving in various industry positions and board directorships, Mr. Cheung works closely with financial services providers and asset owners to promote ESG ideas and initiatives in the Asia hedge fund space. Mr. Cheung is a Visiting Fellow at University of Hamburg. He holds a BSc Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge.  

Denny Chau
Head of Operations

Mr. Chau transitioned to Polymer Capital Management in 2022 from PAG. He joined PAG in March 2015, where he led the operations team. He has over 15 years’ experience in asset management working in various positions across accounting, compliance and operations. Prior to PAG, he spent almost 5 years at Fidelity International as a member of the compliance teams located in both Hong Kong and Sydney. Mr. Chau started his career in Australia in various banking roles.

Edmond Lo
Head of Trading & Execution

Mr. Lo joined Polymer in May 2019. Prior to joining the firm, he spent almost 10 years in Point72 in Hong Kong co-managing the Asia trading desk. Edmond graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in Business Administration (Law).

Eric Kemnitz
Head of United States

Mr. Kemnitz joined Polymer Consulting, LLC in July 2021.  Prior to joining the firm, he spent seven years at A.R.T. Advisors, LLC, as director of marketing and investor relations. Previously he served as a member of the business development and marketing & investor relations teams at S.A.C. Capital from 2005-2013. Mr. Kemnitz began his career at Morgan Stanley as a software engineer in the equity trading systems division and later worked as a capital introductions associate in the firm’s prime brokerage unit. He holds a bachelor's degree in information systems from Carnegie Mellon University.

Gen Kato
Head of Singapore

Mr. Kato joined Polymer Capital Management in November 2020. He has more than 24 years' experience in the financial industry on both the sell-side and buy-side.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kato spent five years as the chief investment officer at MELCO Capital Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, responsible for all investment and risk. Before MELCO he was a managing director at MAM Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based family office, managing various types of investments.

He also worked at Nikko Citigroup in Tokyo, where he was head of equity derivatives trading until 2008. He joined Salomon Brothers in Tokyo in 1996 as a derivatives trader.

Mr. Kato has a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Economics at the University of Tokyo.

Hillman Wong
Head of Capital Markets

Mr. Wong joined Polymer Capital as Head of Capital Markets in June 2020. He has over 17 years of industry experience. Most recently, Mr. Wong was a Portfolio Manager / Head of Equity Capital Markets of Schonfeld Strategic Asia. Prior to Schonfeld, Mr. Wong was a portfolio manager at BlueCrest Capital, where he was a long/short market neutral manager. Prior to BlueCrest, he served as a portfolio manager at Point72 covering APAC equities. Mr. Wong started his career at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley as a research analyst covering HK/China conglomerates. Mr. Wong received bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance from University of Waterloo.

Ho Ho
Chief Risk Officer

Ho Ho joined Polymer Capital Management as a managing director in the firm’s risk function in June 2020. Previously, he worked as a quantitative portfolio manager at Point72 in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the development, deployment and management of a number of hedge fund trading strategies, as well as managing the complete cycle of strategy development including research, risk management and portfolio construction. Before that he served as vice president of proprietary trading at Yuanta Futures in Taipei, and as executive director of applied index research at MSCI in Hong Kong. Mr. Ho also spent more than 10 years with the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), where he led its quantitative strategies team and served on the allocation committee for the pension fund’s Global Equity group, which managed more than US$100 billion in assets. He has published several academic papers on trading strategies, risk analytics and other subjects. Mr. Ho holds an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Irvine, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Josée Wong
Head of Human Capital

Ms. Wong joined Polymer Capital Management in January 2021 as Head of Human Capital.  She has 12+ years of experience in human resources. 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Wong worked at Schonfeld Strategic Asia, Standard Bank, Point72, Nomura and Goldman Sachs.

Ms. Wong has a master's degree in human capital management and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Simon Fraser University.

Joseph Mirpuri
Head of Polymer Platform Strategy

Mr. Mirpuri joined Polymer Capital Management in July 2020. Mr. Mirpuri was born and raised in Hong Kong and has over 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Polymer, he was the head of the Asia Macro Equities Global Alpha (MEGA) sales team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he had worked since 2007. Prior to that, he served as an equities salesperson at Deutsche Bank covering APAC equities. Mr. Mirpuri holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of British Columbia.

Manoj Nihalani
General Counsel

Manoj joined Polymer in March 2022. He has 20 years of experience in Legal and Financial Services. Prior to joining Polymer, Manoj worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for 13 years - initially as in-house legal counsel specializing in prime brokerage and equity derivatives, before moving into the bank’s prime brokerage business unit where he was head of the APAC business consulting and capital introductions teams. Manoj holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) degree from University College London, and a Master of Laws (LLM, Corporate and Securities Law) degree from the London School of Economics. He is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England & Wales.

Takayuki Saito
Head of Japan

Mr. Saito joined Polymer Capital Management in May 2022. He has over 20 years of experience in public equities, especially in trading and prime brokerage. Prior to joining the firm, Takayuki worked at Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and UBS. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University.

Teresa Chan
Chief Compliance Officer

Ms. Chan joined Polymer in September 2021 as Head of Compliance. Her career as a professional Compliance Officer includes four years at Vanguard Investments Hong Kong, seven at Och-Ziff Capital Management, and ten with Lehman Brothers Hong Kong. Before rising through the ranks of the Compliance function at Lehman Brothers from Internal Audit in 1998, Ms. Chan worked at CA Indosuez and Chase Manhattan Bank, as well as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. She has a professional diploma in management accountancy from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a Master of Science in finance from the City University of Hong Kong.

Tony Yin
Head of Equity Finance

Mr. Yin joined Polymer Capital Management in March 2020 and currently led the platform delta one and equity financing strategies. Prior to joining the firm, he was a trader covering synthetic equities and delta one swap products in Deutsche Bank Hong Kong. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a master degree in Computational Finance and double bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Finance from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Vincent Yip
Head of Finance

Mr. Yip joined Polymer Capital Management in June 2019 and previously worked as head of finance and operations at Composite Capital Management. Prior to that, Mr. Yip spent eight years at Morgan Stanley as a member of various finance and operations teams, his most recent role being account manager of Morgan Stanley Fund Services. Mr. Yip started his career as an auditor at PwC. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, studying in both Hong Kong and Japan. He holds a bachelor’s degree business administration, including a major in accountancy and a minor in Japanese studies.
